Who are we and how are we organized.......

P.T. Bali Woodworld is the leading partner in a joint venture comprising four companies. The joint venture was established in the year 2000 together with BWTC (Bali World Trading Co.), Bali Woodworks  and Indo Prefab (*) Since its start the joint venture has grown rapidly to become one of the foremost manufacturers in Bali of Prefabricated Wooden Houses, Prefab custom made Houses and Villas, Bungalows and Gazebos. We have a staff of architects, professional engineers and site supervisors to guarantee that our product has the required structural integrity and remains of high end quality.

What are we capable of.......

The Prefab Houses are either designed in Bali style or may be designed following a client's concept (custom or tailor made). We fabricate houses in the range from small huts, cottages, ECO style houses to bungalows and villas for the up-market. Gazebos are available in many sizes.
P.T. Bali Woodworld and its partners are bringing a new high end quality to this class of residential construction. Each Bali House and gazebo is solely made from termite resistant Tropical Hardwoods such as Bangkirai and Merbau. We fabricate our Prefab Houses and Gazebos like fine furniture without the use of one nail.

Experience and market.......

Being the first in Bali introducing and producing fully engineered Bali Timber Houses and Bali Gazebos following a unique in-house developed prefab concept, based on 40-years of experience in the prefab timber world we designed and exported our products to Hawaii, the Caribbean (US Virgin Islands, Barbados, Bahamas, St. Martin, Sta. Lucia, Cayman islands), the Pacific (Fiji islands, Tonga), South Africa, Panama, Turkey, Greece......and the end is not in sight. New developments in Honduras, Colombia, Australia, India.

Quality and engineering.........

It is a misconception to believe that a Prefabricated Wooden House is a simple structure comprising an integrated system of wooden beams, trusses, sidings and floors connected to each other with bolts and screws which does not require a structural analysis. It is not only the beauty of the Wooden House and the quality of the materials used but for a great deal the structural integrity that counts. In respect to this we would like to alert our visitors that  any wooden prefab structure is extremely sensitive for unbalance (in engineering terms: stability). This is mainly caused by the hinged inter-connections (*). A wooden prefab house may be strong enough to safely absorb vertical loads, but may easily collapse due to its - often overlooked  - hidden instability.  Under lateral loads such as high winds or an earthquake force any prefab house may easily disintegrate when the horizontal stability is too low. This is the professional engineering area where we have tens of years of International experience and where we fully concentrate on for our Prefab Homes so that you will feel safe when a storm passes or an earthquake occurs. Our designs are therefore based on the latest USA codes (IBC 2006) and include standard wind loads or full hurricane and earthquake analyses where applicable.

Our advice: Before you buy a hardwood home you should convince yourself of the technical capabilities of the manufacturer. Our <technical info page> may help you with this. You may create your own questionnaire from the information provided on this page.

(*) This is what Robert F. Janssen [1] has to say:

"Any concrete or steel structure can easily absorb bending moments due to the physical characteristics of the material. Inter-connections are often able to absorb flexional forces. This is hardly possible with wood, in particular when wooden parts need to be connected. Bolt holes in wood are always a bit larger than the bolt diameter thus creating deformations and displacements in the joints. Therefore a wood structure requires specific stability measures to be included in the structure as to avoid spontaneous horizontal movements caused by - even the slightest - wind forces, let alone a hurricane force wind".

[1] Robert F. Janssen is a senior structural engineer with a world wide track record of over 40 years of International experience and is our advisor on structural issues.

(*) P.T. Bali Woodworld, the leading partner is responsible for the engineering and produces the trusses for our prefab units. The sister company is Bali Woodworks which merely concentrates on the fabrication of gazebos and wooden cabinets , BWTC (Bali World Trading Co) produces the doors and windows for our prefab houses while Indo Prefab produces all what is not supplied by those companies and pre-assembles the units.
